allotropic - The existence of two or more crystalline or molecular structural forms of an            element. Usually found in a solid state.

ammonia (NH3) - A colourless gas, extensively used to manufacture fertilisers and a wide   variety of nitrogen containing organic and inorganic chemicals.

berylliosis - Beryllium poisoning. This is usually characterised by the occurrence of granulomatous fibrosis -  a severe chemical poisoning of the lungs, due to inhalation beryllium of  salts.

bipolar disorder - A psychiatric disorder which causes you to have alternating episodes of mania (being happy) and depression (being sad). Also called bipolar illness or manic-depressive illness.

chromium - A hard, steel-grey metallic element, resistant to corrosion and found primarily in chromite. It is used in the hardening of steel alloys and the production of stainless steels, in corrosion-resistant decorative platings, and as a pigment in glass.

conductor - A substance or medium that conducts heat, light, sound, or especially an electric charge.

corrosive - Having the capability or tendency to cause corrosion: a corrosive acid.

cryogenic - Of or relating to low temperatures.

cyclohexane - An extremely flammable, colourless, mobile liquid, C6H12, obtained from petroleum and benzene and used in the manufacture of nylon and as a solvent, a paint, and a varnish remover.

dephlogisticated - To deprive of phlogiston (a hypothetical substance once believed to be present in all combustible materials and to be released during burning)

distillation - The evaporation and then collection of a liquid by condensation.

electrolysis - Chemical change, produced in an electrolyte by an electric current.                         

electronegative - Having a negative electric charge.

insulator - A material that insulates, especially a non-conductor of sound, heat, or electricity. For example, rubber.

pyrotechnic - A type of fireworks.

ultraviolet - Of or relating to the range of invisible radiation wavelengths on the border of the x-ray region, just beyond the violet in the visible spectrum.
